Maybe it's the references to The Simpsons, but I am curious what tv programs are popular in Russia. I really did not watch much tv there, just BCC for news. Is the Simsons a big hit like it is here? I think reality shows are becoming very popular. In Estonia I did watch some Estonian tv and saw a reality show and a game show. What do people like to watch in Russia? Do they get Surviver for example? For the record I am not a big tv viewer. I like the Sopranos and Six Feet Under, both of which are HBO._________________Cyndy
I think tv is decliningin popularity in Russia because it's almost impossible to watch it due to the outragious frequency and wicked length of commercial breaks. On TNT for instance, far as I understand it's the channel that shows House 2, they break for commercials almost every 10 minutes and each break goes on for 7 to 10 minutes, and also commercials are broadcast with the volume turned up. It's total madness, at least I think that if you watch TNT long enough something bad is bound to happen to you, you'll either go postal or insane or both. Most of the other channels seem to be following suit, except for Culture, but on culture there seems to be a bit too much culture sometimes, and some programs are downright boring. Though culture does have one thing going for it: there's no commercials on it.
